The use of a puck screen increases your brewing times by slowing the diffusion of water throughout your coffee puck.If you find yourself wanting to dose less in your coffee filter basket, you can use a puck screen to decrease the headroom inside the puck, so you don't end up with a muddy puck. You can also use the puck screen to increase the pressure inside the puck for a slower extraction that will increase your extraction yield.
